's office did confirm with us that in fact a 16-year-old girl from south san francisco was shot. she's in stable condition this morning. and it all stems from a shooting, as you said that's correct happened late last night about 10:30 right across the street from the high school in this relatively quiet milbrae neighborhood. let's get to you the video we have from the scene last night. we are here at santa theresa and park boulevard. police were combing the area for more than an hour searching for the shooter and police aren't saying whether they have anybody in custody. initial reports are the girl was shot in her abdomen and thigh. we can't get that confirmed but within the last 30 minutes the public information officer from the sheriff's office confirmed with us indeed a 16-year-old girl was shot and she is in stable condition. that's the latest from milbrae. kira klapper, abc7 news. >> we are glad the girl is doing okay. thank you, kira. >>> oakland police are investigating a shooting that has left two people injured. police respond today 68th avenue and mcarthur boulevard around

of the ship staying on board the "overseas raymar" in san francisco bay hopefully enjoying four or five days of unexpected vacation time enjoying the sights of san francisco bay as the coast guard and the ntsb get the investigations going. >> the abc7 news i-team has been digging into the background of guy kleess, piloting the "overseas raymar" at the time of the accident. there are three addresses under his name. one in san francisco. one in wyoming. what appears to be the current one in maryland. you see video provided to us by the san francisco bar pilots who work a week on and a week off but can trade ships. we asked shipping officials about the possibility of pilot fatigue and the bar pilot came to san francisco from maryland right before the crash. >> was he on a red eye? >> we do not know when he came on or off or when he got on or off the ship. >> the shipping industry has filed suit to get information of the pilot's shift and whether fatigue is a problem. the bar pilots and the board are appealing a september decision. you can keep up with new developments by following us at abc7 ne
the board of regents meeting in san francisco and will talk about the priorities he wants to see in the system. "los angeles times" reports brine will push no more teaching and less research and wants more online courses to save money and increase class offerings. in the budget proposal, he increased money for both uc and cal state university by $250 million each, less than asked for but enough to avert tuition hikes in the fall. if they want more funding in the future, he said they will need to do as he says. >> president obama in five hours will unveil a plan to deal with gun violence. a peninsula congresswoman took part in vice president biden's task force saying that the president will ask for renewal of i salt weapons ban, a ban on high capacity magazine clips and mandatory background checks for anyone who buys weapons from gun shows or private sellers. >> do we want an environment where we hear in this country, not so much in california, but in the country, where 40 percent of the guns that are purchased do not have criminal background checks in. >> the focus should be on t
assault and robbery charges. >> new this woman an audit of agencies in san francisco show one far outpaced the others for racking up overtime. san francisco muni racked up more overtime than any other agency going $18 million over budget. the san francisco chronicle reports they beat out police and fire when it came to overtime with ten supervisors making more than $100,000 in overtime boosting their pay to $200,000 last year. one mechanic more than doubled his $106,000 annual salary by making an additional $163,000 in overtime. the chief says that a lot of work was done at night when the trains were not running to get a new train control system working. abc7 will have more in a live report next half hour. >> u.s. postal inspectors hope surveillance video will catch two men who stole mail from at least one apartment building in san francisco. security cameras captured these images of the men in action. the building manager says the two worked together to break in 32 mailboxes and snatched bags of mail. the landlord needs to repair the broken looks. this man did not want to share his name.
and fast track lanes are moving nicely. >> new this morning, a just-released report says san francisco muni overtime costs are over budget, and abc7 news reporter joins us live from the station with an employee who took an unbelievable amount in overtime. >> that is right. the "san francisco chronicle" is reporting that mull -- multiple muni employees made mother than $100,000 in overtime. the average worker, working 40 hours a week works about 2,000 hour as year. some clocked in 4,000 hours in a year. one mechanic made an extra $164,000 for clocking in 2,000 hours of overtime. the chief says the mechanic was paid for overnight work, on a new train control system when trains did not run. ten supervisors made more than $100,000 in overtime pay alone for the 2011 and 1212 fiscal year. one worked street corners keeping an eye on buss and trains and helping out in emergencies, and this supervisor clocked the most hours with 2,262 hours of overtime, earning an extra $147,000 on top of salary. we have a call in for a response to the shocking numbers and we do expect to have that coming up on abc7

it is astonishing, the san francisco chronicle is reporting that the city's overtime payment went $18 million over budget for the 2011-2012 fiscal year of 25 top overtime earners who work for the city, 22 worked for muni. ten supervisors made more than $100,000 in overtime. bringing their pay to more than $200,000 for the year so they worked 80 hour work weeks every single week of the year. we have a breakdown of the pay for a mechanic whose base salary was $106,000. he put in for 1,954 hours of over time. an average person worked 2,000 a year so the mechanic got paid for work 4,000 hours in one year. at $83.85 an hour he made $163,842 in overtime. with add-ons he made more than $293,000 for the year. this happened during the first year of lee's mayor, and san francisco police and fire departments overpaid in overtime and those departments along with muni spent $154 million for that fiscal year in overtime. >> thank you. oakland officials will make a major announcement declaring a local state of emergency to seek outside help over a wave of violence with a recent attack involving a drive-by shooti
